Baroque shell like a great iron clasp
locking the eye to the theatre of ornament.

This flower, a spiral of sound,
leading the eye into a melody of space and light.

Celestial cherub;
Winged guardian of every child below.
Angels both, born of one heavenly song.

Germany circa 1382.

the delicate tracing of vault and arch above become like a magnificent lace gown for the sky.

Iron sentinels on either side.
Wrought iron passage guarding the opening to all the wonder of Versailles.

Reaching out the hand of love,
god of music and medicine,
poetry and prophesy.

Ancient as love itself;
solid, circular emblem of all that is pure and enduring.

A rustling memory, this wing, this fragment.
Fallen to earth or rising upward, fast moving as thought.
Floating us to that light and timeless home of angels.
