We are lucky enough to receive countless heartfelt stories, from individuals who connect with Sid’s work. This brave story of hope and survival really struck a cord, and “S” was kind enough to let us share it with all of you:
500 mgs of Morphine per day, I was in my bed for months at the end, begging God to help. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t leave my house, wouldn’t answer the door or my phone, and stared at my pillow and walls for hours at a time. My family was waiting on me to die. I could not be stopped.
On my wall, a Sid Dickens Memory Block that had been hanging there for years was staring at me. It was a gift for Christmas, 2007. I figured the “S” was for my name, since I’m self-centered that way. One day, I noticed the bleeding heart and got curious. I got up out of bed and looked at the name on the back to see what it was called, this Memory Block is named “Victory“, and has a short message on it also that says, “With Fate’s SURRENDER, our Love Prevails.” I stared at it for days believing for the first time in my life that since I was still alive, I had only one thing left to do. Surrender. This is the Tattoo I want on my arm. I’m 40 now, It will be my first and only tattoo. I hope you don’t mind if I use this for the tattoo. It means a whole lot to me and I wanted to personally thank you for creating this Memory Block. Today, I have almost 19 months clean and sober. If you’re ever in Louisiana, call me, my wife will make you some great cajun cooking! – Anonymous-
From everyone here at the Sid Dickens studio, we thank you “S” for sharing your story, and wish you the happiest and healthiest of futures. Oh… and please send us a picture of the tattoo when it’s complete. We hope is turns out better than Sid’s!!
